Today marks an important day... it's Meg Says Eat's first birthday!
Starting my little health Instagram on April 15th 2013 has turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. From humble beginnings as an exercise and clean eating motivation account to get me in shape for summer, MSE has been a constant before, during and after becoming chronically ill with ME and I've loved updating my feed over the past year. If you'd like to read the story of Meg Says Eat, I wrote a blog post here about why I created the page and how MSE's subject changed from fitness to illness in a matter of months.
At present, MSE focuses on being as healthy as possible whilst living with moderately severe ME, and the trials and triumphs that come along with doing so. I aim to post daily, and mainly talk about how I'm trying to improve my condition through a clean diet, as well as how I'm coping with the illness, and lifestyle bits and bobs such as style and beauty.
I really didn't expect to still be running MSE a year later, but I've met some of the best people who remind me that I'm not alone and encourage me to keep going no matter what. Putting myself out there for the world to see wasn't easy, but I'm a firm believer that if we aren't open and honest about illness then understanding and awareness won't be able to change and grow. It's been a great journey so far, and that's all down to the individuals who leave me the sweetest comments every day. It means the world, I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for the Meg Says Eat family and I wouldn't have continued to post without the constant love and support. I wish I could give you all the hugest hugs!
A million thank you's to everybody who has made Meg Says Eat what it is today - I woke up to 2k followers this morning - thank you! - you inspire me, bring me light on dark days and have given me so much happiness. I couldn't do it without you, and wouldn't want to.
